ATTENTION ALL FISHERMEN
 The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation will present its First Annual Celebrity Fishing Tournament on Saturday, May 17. People will be able to fish from boats, kayaks and the banks of The Lagoon. Prizes will be awarded in three categories of competition - bass, sportfin croaker and California halibut. First place in all three categories is $500 and fishing equipment for second and third places.
The entry fee is $35.00. Fifteen movie and television actors from Hollywood will participate in this important fund raising event. They will be joined by a number of current and retired San Diego Chargers and San Diego Padres. People who wish to fish with a celebrity in a boat will pay $100. There will be an awards ceremony, auction and a food and beverage reception for all competitors at The Lagoon Discovery Center following the competition.
The general public may also purchase tickets to the reception even if they are not fishing at a cost of $35.00. Gulp sample packs of bait will be given to each fisherman. Proceeds will also benefit United Anglers of Southern California and Hubbs Sea World Research Institute. Dear David,
As usual you provided a day of fun, excitement and most of all meeting great people. I donate most of my time to charities for children and animals, like the Bill Foundation and Children's Hospital. I also support the City of Hope and the Heart Association.
I thought the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation would be a bunch of wealthy, snooty people, who probably wouldn't talk to me if I wasn't on TV. However, I met warm and wonderful people who care about their neighborhood and the environment and want to keep their lagoon safe from more encroaching crud and developers. My Captain and his crew were long time residents, who told me all about the "gunge" that had infected the lagoon and how they had cleaned it up and how they wanted to keep it that way.
The hospitality on the boat was first class. When my Captain found out I didn't like beer and was a "cosmo" girl, unbeknownst to me, he phoned dry land and had a pitcher delivered boat-side with a delectable cheese and cracker platter.
Punctuating the weekend was the great accommodations provided. Because we have a dog, my husband usually doesn't get to go on my overnight events. Your organization and the Foundation provided a fabulous room at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa which allowed them to come along. It was a great overnight adventure and fun day. Thank you to all involved. I hope to be invited back for next year's event.
