WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL - March 20, 2004

By Charli Harshbarger

We won! The Knights are undefeatable! With a final score of 96-71 the Knights can’t be stopped. The game began with the faculty following one of its members playing the bagpipes. NXL blew the audience away with the acapella national anthem. For being the first game NXL has attended, I’m sure that we will see more of them – they are incredible.

Speaking of first times, I’d like to take a second to make a personal note. Tonight was the first night my mom had ever been to a Hollywood Knights game. I have been a fan for over four years and this is the first Knights experience she has had. On the way home she was glowing from meeting so many of her favorite daytime stars. This just proves that even parents can have a good time at a game.

Now onto the plays - Tyler Hoechlin (7th Heaven) scored for the first time this season. GO TYLER! Tyler wasn’t the only one making amazing plays. Cylk Cozart (White Men Can’t Jump) was on fire coming from nowhere and pulling the Knights ahead. Kyle Brandt (Days of our Lives, Real World Chicago) came out of nowhere to help with an assist. The most amazing point was scored right as the buzzer went off for half time when one of the faculty players hit a three-pointer. During the announcing of the players, Arlen Escarpeta (American Dreams) had an embarrassing surprise. Five of his fans had larger poster size photos of him as a child. D-Smoove (3rd Storee) unfortunately got elbowed in the mouth and had injured his lip. Luckily he will be OK. Dion Basco (City Guys) showed up after halftime to help the Knights. It’s better late then never.

Not only did we have Tyler, Cylk, Kyle, Arlen and Dion but we can’t forget our other amazing players as well. Coming out to play included Kiko Ellsworth (Port Charles), J’Son (3rd Storee), Tha Goodfellas (Romeo and Dejai – Power 106), and Anthony Harrell (Brutha). Coming to support the Knights was Christine DiCarlo (General Hospital) and Pablo Santos (Greetings from Tucson). Brutha rocked the house yet again. Every time you see Brutha perform it’s always a different experience. They performed a new song and rocked some new and incredible dance numbers. One of the members of Brutha ran into the stands shaking hands and rocking the crowd during their performance. Brutha will be performing with Brian McKnight in April for the Motown special. NXL performed a live acapella song and then sang their single “Bounce,” giving some of the fans a personal one-on-one performance.

As with every Hollywood Knights game, there’s never a moment to be missed.
