VAN NUYS HIGH SCHOOL - April 14, 2004

By Charli Harshbarger

The Van Nuys High School faculty sought a win and got it. With a breath taking final score of 58 to 57, the Hollywood Knights fought to the end but left Van Nuys High School Wednesday night defeated. DJ E-Man fought tooth and nail scoring with an impressive two pointer in the second half, leaving fans to believe the Knights would win.

KB gave a chilling rendition of the national anthem and the VNHS dance squad danced the game into a night to remember. The nights welcomed new comers DJ E-man (Power 106), Lil J (Raven), John Rich (model), Steve Howey (Reba) and welcomed back Josh Keaton (Skin). Not to mention our resident Knights Khleo Thomas (Walking Tall), Romeo and Dejai (Power 106), Wesley Jonathan (What I Like About You), Cylk Cozart (Feature films), Kyle Brandt (Days of our Lives), Michael Bergin (Baywatch), The Miz (Road Rules/Real World Challenge), Alicia Reyes, Brutha, Tech Money (Van Wilder), Arlen Escarpeta (American Dreams) and Tyler Hoechlin (7th Heaven).

The night came alive when the VNHS dance squad rocked the house with an 80s medley. Then, KB got the audience out of their seat with his rendition of “Rock with you." Brutha’s performance was unlike any other. They never cease to amaze me.

You never realize how much you can enjoy a game so much until it is in your backyard. “I came to win. We got beat last year and I wanted to come back and kick butt,” said Coach Donald Speed. But, Mr. Brandon Furman came out to “represent the geeks. I’m not so much a geek but a square. So, I’m here representing the squares.” And we squares appreciate it.
