Hollywood Knights Celebrity Basketball Team Visit L.A. City Hall

Council member Richard Alatorre will present certificates of appreciation to members of the Hollywood Knights team for their involvement with local high schools.

On Friday, September 2, 1994, Councilman Alatorre will introduce the Hollywood Knights team to the City Council and will highlight their involvement with the City’s local high schools.

The Hollywood Knights Celebrity team is owned and its tour produced by Michael Mirisch, a highly recognizable Hollywood promoter in Los Angeles. To date, the team has raised an estimated $850,000.00 for local high schools.

The intention of the project is to bring in celebrity athletes, popular with the teenage market, to play against a high school’s faculty in order to raise funds. The celebrities who are involved all volunteer their time.

“With recent budget cuts, our youth in Southern California high schools are desperately seeking ways to generate more income for their athletic and academic programs. I really commend Michael Mirisch and the teammates of the Hollywood Knights for their involvement in helping our youth achieve their goals,” stated Councilman Alatorre.
