The Hollywood Knights Celebrity Basketball Team Season Wrap Party 2002 was a huge success! There were over fifty stars in attendance transforming the legendary Key Club on the Sunset Strip into a celebrity haven.
The evening kicked off with a tribute to old Hollywood with flapper girls dancing around with giant feathers. Midway through their routine, they cleverly shed their dresses to reveal 1920's style bathing suits and danced the Charleston. They were so much fun to watch. Thank you to choreographer Chris Dupre and his dancers who dedicated their time to entertain us - everyone raved about it!
Immediately following the dancers, E! Mysteries and Scandals host A.J. Benza took to the stage. He introduced Michael Mirisch with a speech that sounded more like an episode of Mysteries and Scandals...with a Hollywood Knights twist, of course! Michael then made his way to center stage escorted by one of the dancers.
Bring on the awards! The Knights were honored for their loyalty, support and participation in the 2002 season, which raised over $100,000.00 for Southern California schools. Every single award was special and meaningful. There's no doubt that The Hollywood Knights is one awesome team!
Everyone was eagerly awaiting the live performances so immediately following the awards ceremony, Tha Goodfellas took the stage to host the performances portion of the party. Their afternoon radio show on Power 106 is #1 in Los Angeles...and for good reason! No one can deny the awesome chemistry and timing of Dejai and Romeo and as hosts of the wrap party, they kept the crowd going and the energy flowing all night long.
First, The Nade took to the stage - with a surprise performance by WESLEY JONATHAN! Then came Joy Enriquez who was joined on-stage by a fan who knew all the words and dance moves. Now there's a memory that fan will treasure for a lifetime - sharing the stage with Joy! Next came David Nicoll who was later joined by his protege Chris, aka C.J. Sometimes, you just gotta biggie bounce! Following D. Nicoll was Krystal debuting music from her new album coming out later this summer. You know something special is happening when that keyboard is on stage! Following Krystal was Dallas, who performed 4 songs to a live band. His set was tight! Alfonso Ribeiro briefly joined Tha Goodfellas on stage to have some fun and reminisce about last year's party, which he co-hosted along with Dejai and Romeo. The final performance for the evening was Nobody's Angel, who also performed to a live band and were introduced by Ali's brother, Josh Keaton - he was a big hit with the female fans! What a difference live music makes...the girls were on top of the world!
As the show came to a close, Michael Mirisch and Tha Goodfellas thanked everyone for coming out and celebrating another successful Hollywood Knights season. It was a great event enjoyed by all.
Thank you to all the performers for a phenomenal show. You gave your heart and soul and the result was simply amazing. A big thanks also goes out to the Hollywood Knights production crew: Drina, Clint, Howie, Traci, and to all of the volunteers and escorts.
